Lesley Balding of London Link received royal recognition in last year's Queen Mother's Birthday Awards for her significant contribution to the enhancement of her local environment. She received a Special Mention in the Regional Awards for her work in creating wildlife habitats and clearing rubbish at Limekiln Dock in London's Docklands.
The awards were presented by the 'Tidy Britain Group' - the only environmental award scheme to receive the Queen Mother's patronage.
Lesley and her company London Link work closely with Thames21 - a joint initiative between the Tidy Britain Group, the Port of London Authority, the Environment Agency, Thames Water and the Corporation of London - in its efforts to revitalise London's rivers in partnership with local communities.
